My fiance (we're getting married this saturday!!) and I are going to start trying for kids starting in January. These are my questions, and I know I can go out and get a book or two, and I'll talk to my doctor, but these are for curiosity's sake until I do all that.
1) How many weeks does a pregnancy last?
2) My mother never had morning sickness, it doesn't run in my family, but sometimes people in my family get a little bit of evening sickness. Is this something that's passed down, or were my relatives just lucky?
3) If someone has morning sickness, when does it usually start?
4) For an average pregnancy, how much weight does a woman gain?
5) I've heard women talking about 'measurements'--what are they talking about? The measurement of the baby? Their stomach? What?
Thanks in advance, serious answers only, please.
1) A normal pregnancy lasts 40 weeks (counting from the first day of her last period)
2) I think they were probably just lucky, pregnancy is different for every woman, and even if a woman has more than one pregnancy they can all be different from each other.
3) Morning sickness is most common in the first trimester ( which is like the first three months of pregnancy) but it can last the entire pregnancy for some, It did for me with my 3rd child.
4) It depends if she is very thin, normal, or overweight to begin with. The doctor says an average weight gain is approx. 35 to 40 lbs.
5) It could be the height of the uterus from top to bottom, it could be the measurement of the baby itself in an ultrasound.
Just remember to be supportive of her when she does get pregnant and try to understand that women go through alot when they are pregnant, not only physically, but especially emotionally. The hormones will start raging. Good luck and congratulations onpregnancy questions your marriage this Saturday. I wish you a wonderful and happy life together.
Also, I think it is great you are asking all these questions, it shows you care.
Sorry I thought it was you fiance asking, but congratulations on your marriage once again, and I hope you have a beautiful and easy pregnancy when it does happen :O)

Next you'll be asking how to make the baby.
a pregnancy last at least fourty weeks. your family was really lucky. morning sickness can start at any time of the day. about thirty to thirty five pounds if its a healthy baby. probably their stomach and boost area.
1) 40 weeks (adveradge, full term is anywhere between 36 to 42 weeks)
2)Morning sickness can be any time not just morning, so the evening sickness is actually morning sickness & if you get it or not it is not herediatry... just luck.
3)between 5 to ??? weeks it can start anytime and it can last the entire pragnancy however uspregnancy questionsually stops at 12 weeks ob adv. for most women.'
4)20 to 40 pounds acording to most OBs
5)It is the length from top of pubic bone to top of underus. The measure this (on your belly) if you are 20 weeks you usually measure 20 .
1) 37-40 is considered normal
2) morning sickness is a misnomer, it can occur at any time and may be influenced by genetics, diet etc.
3) 2-8wks
4)25lbs approximately, more or less depending on her starting weight
5) not sure, sorry
a pregnancy is on a 40 week time line. Every pregnancy is different therefore you may get morning or evening sickness even if you relatives did not have any. Morning sickness usually become noticable around your missed period which is why this is an early symptom, but it can last throughout your pregnancy or ome and go, i say it generally starts really kicking in around 8 weeks. Everyones weight gain is different depending on the size they are before conception, your dr will tell you a healthy amount for you but on average it's between 25-35 pounds. First pregnancies are usually a little bit more of a gain. Good luck.
1. up to 40 weeks duration
2. it depends on the mans genes not yours.
3. morning sickness can start around 13weeks
4.on average you will gain 13kg depending on your diet.
5.measurements i have no idea, never heard of it
1)about 40
2)for my wife it varied by pregnancy
3)I think it really varies a lot, but my wife ussually has morning sickness, to some extent, more earlier in the pregnancy and heartburn later on.
4)25lbs or more.
5)They measure the "height of fundus" from the pubic symphasis to the "top" of the uterus.
